Our Disembodied Selves and the Decline of Empathy

From one of my favorite sites, The Art of Manliness.  There has been talk about the “empathy deficit” in the US since Barack Obama was elected.  There was some ridicule of empathy and Justice Sotomayor when the President listed this as an important qualification for Justice, but it is an essential component of humanity…and manliness.  Rather than ridiculing it, conservatives, who are always talking about human nature, should be a little more receptive to it in our politics and in our lives.
