[tweetmeme source=”stephenanuno” only_single=false]I am posting this for two reasons. First, it is a detailed and approachable look at the misperception (or blatant misdirection) that Latinos have higher crime rates and that immigration will bring violent crime to America’s cities. Second, it comes from a conservative publication and I think it should be noted that not all of the right wing is irrational in their analysis of this issue. There are indeed reasons to oppose migration, such as cultural purity or economic competition for the lower classes (maybe), but violent crime is not one of them. I might add that neither is terrorism. A wall won’t shut out terrorists who will undoubtedly come with greater clandestine resource streams. The best way to combat terror on the border is to create a system that encourages participation, not one that turns every economic or social migrant into a criminal.
